Objective #1: Produce enough food to feed our family and provide for others.


EGGS

We practice rotational grazing, which means we move the chickshaw to a fresh patch of grass about once each week. This process keeps our girls clean, it provides them a constant source of fresh greens and buggies to eat, and it keeps the field dethatched and fertilized.

 

PRODUCE

We work with nature in an effort to grow nutritious food and leave the land better than how we found it. We prevent weeds by using landscape fabric and repurposed conveyor belts. We make our own compost using our birds’ waste and shredded leaves. We protect the microorganisms in the soil by using a broadfork.

 

PRESERVING

We can and freeze our produce using friend-tested recipes. We dry our herbs.
